Gesture
Gesture drawing is
It is an effort to distill all the information seen into only its essential qualities by limiting the artistic means. With this being said try to only draw lines that have meaning and draw with intent!
A gesture drawing has movement and is not stiff or measured. If it looks incorrect change it! try to focus on the activity and other issues can be corrected later.

`Gesture is the single most important element in the drawing'
Glenn Vilppu
It doesn't matter how well the drawing is rendered of finished, without the feeling of individuality that we see every day in real life the drawing is simply an academic exercise.
You want the drawing to feel alive like it could leap of the page and not be a static collection of mass, bones and muscles. Draw each line as if it would lead into the next so there is a sense of continuity.

Without gesture and feeling would you be able to draw these ?

In an effort to simplify and distill their designs professional character designers
draw with a big fat marker.
Barney Rubble original design sketch - Tom Oreb
Look at the personality in this sketch. It is
a shame that the characters were watered down
